Last night was my first sleeping in my childhood bed in roughly eleven months. Was as comfortable and wonderful as I remembered, though my mother had to remind me of the possibility I could turn on the fan, which made it more comfortable.
Last night we had dinner at Burt’s a quietly famous pizza joint Mom and Dad patronize every Sunday. Was made even better by the addition of one of my childhood friends. The night before was another friend’s bachelor party. We did what was expected, but the evening was tame overall. Fun moments for me included falling asleep first sitting in a chair and forgetting my ID. Really special to see everyone; though, especially how we all bounced off one another and picked up right where we left off. I have more sympathy now for why my junior high school students were always hitting one another.
Friday night went with a college friend to L’ecole, the restuarant of the French Culinary institute where our other college friend is studying/working. Food was incredible and quite reasonably priced for a 5 course French meal. Haven’t had a lot of French cuisine in my life, but I had a lot of respect for their experimentation. Been around a lot of foodies the past ten days or so, which had made me more food conscious than I remember.
Being back in America so far, the biggest observation I have is the wit I am finding and not used to dealing with in interpersonal conversations. Could be the same with friends anywhere in the world, but coming home to people who know me well and who are quite intelligent I have struggled at times keeping up with jokes and/or conversation.
This has not happened in a while, and is a wonderful development I am quite excited about.
Charlie: Thanks for the update. It sounds like you are enjoying yourself. Yeah! Love ya!
Grandma: Yes, I am thoroughly enjoying being back home seeing all my friends and family. Thanks for the comments! Love, Charlie
